And Merchandise does it so well, I don’t want them to change either. This is from the trio’s second full length album “Children of Desire.” That you can download for free! There is a bit of un-identified artists out there that we know; Burial, Daft Punk (kinda), Deadmau5 and others. Something about that mystery attracts us. This guy (or girl) under the name of “unknown” has been releasing some tracks (and a remix) onto his Youtube channel. This track is great, and also it’s predecessors.

Port St. Willow - “Orphan”

Port St. Willow is a project of Nick Principe based in Brooklyn, NY. I fell in love with Port St. Willow from Shaking Through’s Vol II, working with Peter Silberman from The Antlers, making his amazing track “Stay Even.” His love for Ambient guitar sounds, minimal drum beats and his (may I say) beautiful voice totally hit me. Today he released his debut album on his Bandcamp. And it is just gorgeous, I love it. I’d recommend it to anyone. Listen to the rest here.

Safer - Animal Collective


So in 2007, before the release of Strawberry Jam, Animal Collective released this 12” single for Peacebone, the opener on Strawberry Jam. Within that 12” there was this track, Safer, a epic 9 minute jam. Never have I noticed this until just 30 minutes ago. And it totally worth the listen.

Last night I went to my grandparents house (where they have Fox News on all the time) and what I see I couldn’t believe. Neil Sedaka. The spunky 50s pop singer singing with his 3 grandchildren. Such a cute piece. Enjoy!

DON’T WANNA -QUARTERBACKS


There are some bands out there with a writing style more focused on sad happenings and sometimes songs that sound just plain depressing. Quarterbacks is are exactly the opposite of that. QUARTERBACKS are 3 dudes making twee-punk music from NY. They released some demos a few months ago that I really dug. And was stoked for this new record of theirs. It came out last Saturday on their bandcamp and they are shipping out cassettes on June 1st. You should definitely head over to their bandcamp and pick up this album. They remind me a ton of Born Ruffians (with a little Another Sunny Day in the mix).

CARE - Untitled (a pop song)


Grand Rapids does not have that many good band hailing from it. But there are some out there that really know their stuff and do it well, like CARE. A lot of their sound sounds very reminiscent of early Modest Mouse material with some post-hardcore elements within it. They came out with their debut album Yellow Trumpet Comforter Swan today on their Bandcamp that you all should definitely give a listen to.
