Journey has some pretty landscapes <3 wanted to imagine how an NES adaptation would be like. I tried to stick close to the NES limitations. :D I know it exceeds them, though.

“Perfect Water” - Body Parts

Immediately after I heard “Doing Things” from LA’s Body Parts, I fell in love. Later, after hearing their 2011 album “On Purpose” I was really anxious for what they have next in store. The other day they released two new tracks that both blew me away. Mad David Byrne influence, it’s amazing. These tracks are making me so pumped for the album later on this year.

PURE X really drew me in with their droned out keys and a guitar sound that really catches your ear. Their debut album “Pleasure” was like a fuzzed out dream that you wished would never end. “The Trance” - Real Magic

This new Real Magic track seriously slays. The lyricism in the track is very simple (almost predictable but not in a bad way) but delivers really well. I love what he did with showing emotion within his vocals that you just can’t let pass by. The instrumentation having this electronic sound very similar to artists like M83 it holds this feeling similar to the vocals, totally grabs your heartstrings. His debut album “Deep Breathing” comes out March 12 on Hug Records.

“Boreal” - Hundred Waters

Hundred Waters released one of my favorite records of last year, it beautifully explored the genres of folk and electronic and combined them to have one gorgeous result. Yesterday they revealed their new video for one of my favorites off the album, “Boreal.” The track is very eloquently written, the lyrics are a key piece to this track (I recommend reading them before watching the video).

This video is something else. First the video is shot really cool, looks like VHS quality. I love VHS, it’s just so authentic, or because it is the closest format we have to film. You know those old movies that have such odd, mostly bad, special effects that it’s disturbing? Well it may be just me, but that is what this video contains. The costume on the large creature and the strange insect thing he holds are just kinda creepy. But I’m really digging the whole idea of this video and the song.
